This year their efforts went to a very successful Electronics’ Recycling Campaign and a "Strutt Your Mutt" walk earlier this year! Lead by CHAMPS Student Leader Michaela Streep this year’s funding will go to provide new special prosthetic sleeve's for young Kemal. GO New Hampshire Team!!
The CHAMPS New Hampshire Team will be participating in the Marshall Legacy Institute's new K9-9K walk early April 2010. For more information go to www.marshall-legacy.org.
2008: CHAMPS New Hampshire Team, lead by Michaela Streep, sponsored a young landmine survivor named Kemal. This team held multpile fundraisers which included a Father/Daughter Dance, an Electrical Recycling campaign and several other fundraisers that raised more than $5,000 providing Kemal with a new Otto Bock prosthetic leg!!! Remember, in 2007 this team funded the beautiful German Shepherd Granite who is serving in Bosnia, sniffing mines and saving lives because of these wonderful students in New Hampshire!

CHAMPS International Student Leader Michaela Streep led the small town of Kingston, NH, on a successful Campaign to help a landmine survivor in Bosnia this year!
Electronic recycling fundraisers, followed by a Father/Daughter dance, and many other small fundraisers in-between were just some of the efforts undertaken by the D.J. Bakie Elementary School and the Sanborn Middle School to help a Bosnian boy named Kemal.
Kemal is from Sarajevo where he lives with his Grandmother. Kemal's mother was killed by the landmine that took his mother's life. She was carrying him, not yet a year old, when she walked on the landmine. He lost his leg and had other injuries. He went to live with his Grandmother after his mother died.
Using a website called Skype.com these Kingston schools met virtually once a month with the Sarajevo Elementary School discussing their joint effort to provide Kemal with a much needed new prosthetic leg. The same landmine that took Kemal’s mother’s life, took his leg when he was just 4 months old in Sarajevo, Bosnia. On June 28, 2008 Kemal got his new leg!
This program has made the world much smaller for our students, parents and general community. We are lifers, dedicated to CHAMPS and MLI!
