stories
Our new CHAMPS International Lebanon launch was delayed because of political and technical difficulties in the Southern region of Lebanon. This region is highly contaminated with both landmines and cluster bombs and young landmine survivors are in need of prosthetics and our support. Our partner, the Landmine Resource Center (LMRC) has worked tirelessly to get the program up and running. At last...we have lift off!!
Both the Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the Trinity Episcopal School in Austin, Texas will be joining us on this adventure now that the program, the teams, and the technology are up and running.
On Wednesday, July 22nd, we held our first successful communication using YAHOO messenger while presenting CHAMPS to a group of Advanced Placement (AP) World Geography and Human Geography teachers from around the country at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Our CHAMPS International - Lebanon Manager Patricia Beainy, student leaders from the Lebanon Team and young landmine survivors conversed for nearly an hour with our teachers here in the United States.
This Fall will mark the launch of our project officially. We expect an incredibly successful program because there are incredibly dedicated individuals involved in both America and in Lebanon working together to help those who cannot help themselves.
